As a speech-language pathologist, I specialize in a number of disorders and differences, and at SpeakEasily SLP, I treat them all. Autism to ADHD, dementia to dysarthria, stutter to stroke, and a lot, lot more.

But there's one area that's stolen my heart (and my head)... 

 

dyslexia

To be clear, when we use a word like dyslexia, we're often referring to a lot more than just reading. Children with dyslexia frequently have a number of co-occurring conditions that don't always get the spotlight.

 

Things like attention, auditory skills, short and long term memory, expressive and receptive language, comprehension, processing, spelling/writing (dysgraphia), and fundamental math skills (dyscalculia).

 

These aren't just the keys that everyone needs in order to be an independent and dependable member of society. Collectively, they make up the doorway.
