SUUUUUUUUUUUUUPER STRESS!
SUPRA-SEGMENTAL POWER
Fry is a dim-witted, immature, slovenly, yet good-hearted pizza delivery boy who falls into a cryogenic pod, causing it to activate and freeze him. He re-awakens on New Year's Eve, 2999, and gets a job as a cargo delivery boy at Planet Express, a company owned by his only living relative, Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth.
Fry uses stress to get his point across, as pictured here.
ACTUAL DEFINITION
Stress refers to the prominence placed on a part of an utterance for emphasis. This is often characterized by a rise in fundamental frequency, greater duration and increased stress on the vowel segment of the syllable, greater intensity, and pauses.
EXAMPLE
